The first season of “How To Make It in America” ended last Sunday. The show was pretty damn good and inspiring for someone trying to get their hustle on and well, make it in America. But the best part of the show might have been the opening credits. It was shot amazingly well and mixed photos with clips of New York City. But the most impressive part was the use of Aloe Blacc‘s track “I Need a Dollar.” I thought it might have been some old soul track revamped, but my boy Austin found it floating around on the Hype Machine and I discovered it was Stones Throw Records artist Aloe Blacc. Definitely one of the best tracks of the year so far. I also included a bonus Aloe track, “Happy Now?” taken from the Adult Swim compilation Chrome Children Vol. 2.
Aloe Blacc will be performing at the Commonwealth Lounge in Fullerton, CA on April 27.
