My boy Austin hipped me to his favorite new band, French duo Something a la Mode. The name doesn’t mean something with ice cream on top. In French, a la mode means in the style, and this band is definitely making music that everyone should be listening to right now. After deeper investigation I discovered that the two members of SALM are not only electro producers, but classically trained strings player. That’s a violin and cello you are hearing during the breaks between the pounding, pulsating beats. Their use of female vocals accompanied with their smooth production make Something a la Mode something to keep on your radar.

Sometimes I hear a song so on point I don’t even want to share it. I want to keep it for myself so that when I drop it at the club people’s socks get knocked off. I almost thought of doing that with this song, but then what kind of blogger would I be. French “Hip-Hop” producer Onra brings an exciting edit of a song that many people may have forgotten, and many more may have never even heard. Y’all know how much I love 80’s music and cheesy 80’s R&B ranks right up there with Freestyle and Girl Pop. Onra has some more impressive production, including a track with T3 of Slum Village. He will be making his way to the US later this year so if you like him, go out and show the boy some love. That’s how these guys get paid!
