Miike Snow may have been the most blogged about band of 2009. I definitely contributed to that as I listed the Swedish band’s debut album as my favorite album of last year. I was lucky enough to see the band twice in the past year and though I really loved the performance the band had been getting some negative feedback about their lo-fi approach. The message must have been received because the group came out with more energy than I’ve ever seen. They transformed their indie synth-pop into a full out rock show. The crowd was going bananas for every track, girls were screaming, I was half-expecting for them to start taking their shirts off. The crowd was in love. Maybe the band has just matured after more than a year of touring, or maybe they like to change it up every now and then. Whatever the case, it was the most inspired performance I’ve seen from Miike Snow so far.

Opening act Mark Ronson & the Business Intl. also held it down real tough. Mark just released a new album called Record Collection which I think is easily one of the best albums of 2010. MNDR played a 20 minute set before joining Mr. Ronson and the Business Intl. for their live performance. Their new single “Bang Bang Bang” which features MNDR was the highlight of the set. Coming out to perform Q-Tip’s verses was Bmore rapper Spank Rock, who decided to stay on stage and perform a couple more tracks with the Intl. Great night all around, make sure you check out the pics from the night above.

  1. Who made that mashup of Swedish House Mafia and Miike Snow? It uses a bunch of different remixes of Silvia… at least the Robotberget one, for sure.
