MASTER OF THE MIX: DJ SCRATCH

Posted in MUSIC on January 9, 2011 by Keyvon

Congratulations to one of my favorite producers and one of my biggest DJ influences, DJ Scratch, on winning the first Master of the Mix. DJ Scratch is a legendary producer who has made tracks for EPMD, Das Efx and most notably a ton of tracks with the great Busta Rhymes. Chances are if you’ve gone to a Hip Hop club in the past 15  years, you’ve shaken your ass to some DJ Scratch beats. Most recently he’s been traveling around as Q-Tip’s tour DJ.

I’m not a big fan of reality shows at all but Master of the Mix was maybe the best reality competition show I’ve ever seen. They got some of the biggest DJ’s in the world to battle it out with a series of DJ competitions, and the last man standing would be named Master of the Mix. Some of the superstar DJ’s included DJ Rap and DJ Revolution. However it was Grammy Award-winning, and Erykah Badu producer, Viktor Duplaix battling it out with DJ Scratch in the final episode, with Scratch becoming victorious.

TOGETHER AS ONE NYE REVIEW

Posted in CONCERTS on January 3, 2011 by Keyvon

BY AUSTIN JONES

The 13th annual Together As One music festival surpassed all expectations as the best NYE party in LA. The lineup was chalk-full of the most talented DJs in the world — keeping the crowd in high spirits all through the night, and ringing in the new year properly. If the fun had at TAO wasn’t a good luck charm for what’s to come in 2011, nothing is.
Many people had to choose between an intimate house party with only close friends, or an all out rager with 50,000 strangers. If you opted for the latter, you realized that those strangers quickly became your friends! Good choice.
We at Golden Bloggen hope you keep your new year’s resolution of not appearing on Cops or Hoarders.
Special thanks to Go Ventures for throwing yet another amazing event!
