New York’s own Designer Drugs will be headlining Avalon in Hollywood this Friday night! Their much anticipated album Hardore/Softcore was just released this week so the tunes are sure to be fresh and the crowd is sure to be hyped. The DJ/producer duo traveled over 300k miles last year on tour, so if you’re lucky enough to be in LA Friday night don’t miss this dark, edgy performance. Designer Drugs’ sound is industrial, heavy, throbbing, yet still melodically pleasing.

DD’s Michael Vincent Patrick explains, “I think we’re making music for the apocalypse. The state of society is at a place where people just don’t give a fuck and that’s what inspires our music.” Normally humble, Michael adds “It gets pretty wild. Even though we’re mellow, there’s lots of stage diving and almost slam dancing. It’s next level dance club shit that almost morphs into that ‘90s hardcore/punk vibe.”

Tracks like “Through the Prism” and “Crazy for You” have the hard electro sound that’s ready for the dance floor while still being audibly accessible for possible crossover success. Especially with the latter featuring vocals by Euro-Pop star Annie. But with tracks like “Riot” and “Dead Meat” you can envision the type of rave atmosphere that Mr. Patrick describes.

I know you all will be hyped for DD, but the rage doesn’t stop there. Also on the lineup is Mustard Pimp, who have been lighting up the Hype Machine charts. They are a French electro duo signed to Dim Mak who produce new music as well as remixes. Peep their SoundCloud page.

Golden Bloggen will have the Canon Cameras charged up and pointed at all you sexy people in the crowd — smile // dance // drink // party! Friday night baby, it’s on!

Info and tickets available HERE.

I thought Valentine’s Day weekend was wild, but this past weekend was one of the most fun weekend’s I’ve ever had. It started on Friday when I got an all-access pass to the NBA All Star Game being held in my hometown LA. Friday was fun, but the real action started Saturday with the Dunk Contest. Blake Griffin, star of my beloved LA Clippers won the competition by pulling off the now legendary Kia Car Jump. I know dudes have dunked over cars before but that was on Youtube. No NBA player has had the balls to bring a bar into the arena and jump over it on National TV. Well done Blake! And to have Baron come out of the car and lob it to you was fucking brilliant.

Saturday night was also our second installment at Ecco Lounge in Hollywood. Our own SEPULVEDA threw down a pretty sweet set and got the crowd moving pretty hard. Big Ups Austin “Sepulveda” Jones. Check him out again this Saturday from 10-11. And I’ll (Kool Ethan) will be spinning there March 5th.

From Ecco we went over to Major Rager at the Proud Bird kn Westchester. Thanks to Vivek from DANCEiSM for throwing one of the hottest, sweatiest party I’ve ever been to. And thats saying a lot. I can only remember one party this sweaty (my camera was fogged up as soon as I walked into the ballroom), and that was in Nice, FR last summer. You are in esteemed company my friend. I posted some DIPLO TRACKS BELOW. I posted Flux Pavillion cuz he dropped that and the kids loved it. And it seems that the track is really making the rounds recently.

Sunday night was the NBA ALL STAR game! Shit was amazing. Lenny Kravitz opened up the night. Blake Griffin dunked some more. Rihanna brought out Drake and Yeezy for the halftime show. And Kobe and Lebron battled in the 4th quarter for one of the most memorable All-Star games EVER! Wow. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY I got to meet the lovely Keri Hilson above, if only for a second. She is hands down one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, if not the most.

But that’s nothing. Next weekend and the weekend after that are bound to top this one. Stay tuned and check out the pics and tracks BELOW.

Gucci Mane – Break Yourself (Diplo Remix)

Major Lazer – Hold the Line (Skream Remix)

DJ Fresh – Gold Dust (Flux Pavillion Remix)

What a wild weekend. Call it Grammy weekend or Valentine’s Day weekend, but whatever it was, it was fucking bananas. Friday night was the Pre-Grammy party at the Roxbury headlined by superstar DJ Wolfgang Gartner. It was a party to say the least. The place was packed and sweaty. JFK and Them Jeans were also on the decks throughout the course of the night. There were obviously some celebrity sightings as you would expect at a big Hollywood club on Grammy Weekend. Most notably Party Royalty Paris Hilton and SUPPOSEDLY Don Fucking Johnson (but I didn’t see him).

Friday was a great start to the weekend, but the debauchery continued and even escalated on Saturday as the GB family hosted a sick event at Ecco Lounge in Hollywood. Thanks to Danny B, Hollywood Rox and Rocka Chic for helping us throw an amazing night. There was a lingerie show, dope house music, and drink specials. What else could you want? Seriously. The pic above of the ladies having fun with whip cream was just a delicious taste of what the night had to offer. Click the links below to view all the pics from the weekend.

Lil Wayne – 6 Foot 7 Foot (Stream Only)

DJ Chuckie – Let the Bass Kick

We will be throwing a big party this Thursday at The Bar in Hollywood. There will be free vodka… I’m sorry, let me repeat that. FREE VODKA TIL 11! Call it Hipster Hop night. This is the first installment of our monthly series “Sweat Box,” going down every first Thursday of the month at The Bar at Bronson. There will also be a fashion booth set up with some ill T-shirt designs. Like Keith Murray said “It’s a Party Y’all.”

And check out my latest mixtape “Favela-tech” below. It mixes some of my favorite new electro bangers with a few of the best tracks from my current obsession, Baile Funk. And of course I begin the mix by paying homage to one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES… MISS TEENA MARIE. R.I.P. LOVE!.
