AZARI & III AT DRAI’S

Posted in CONCERTS, MUSIC on November 13, 2012 by Keyvon

It’s good to see real house music taking over again. The Sahara Tent at Coachella this year was like EDC Lite. I miss the good ol’ days of Masters at Work, Felix the Housecat and Daft Punk throwing down in the dance tent. Thanks to acts like Disclosure, Soul Clap, and Azari & III, real house music is making a comeback.

Azari & III (pronounced “third”, not ill or three) stopped thru Drai’s in Hollywood for a DJ set this past weekend and brought me back to the late 90s when I heard house for the first time. The Canadian collective has a very interesting roster or producers and performers. I’m guessing their DJ set doesn’t fully match how wild their live show is going to be at Dim Mak Studios tonight, but the music was on point all night none-the-less. The huge pool, rooftop view overlooking Hollywood Blvd., and constant string of top notch DJs make Drai’s the sexiest and most scenic club in the Los Angeles.

DISCLOSURE

UK house producers Disclosure performed at the El Rey on Halloween last week and at Hard Day of the Dead last weekend. Unfortunately I missed both sets, which was a pretty big deal because not many groups have been giving me that perfect house sound I’ve been looking for. Their shit is so goddamn sexy. If you dont believe me checkout their unofficial video for “What’s In Your Head” above. Definitely NSFW (like a lot of things on this blog). The duo seems to be young and brand new, but hopefully they will be delivering a full-length LP soon that will live up to their early hype. In the meantime buy their new single “Latch” on iTunes.

GIGAMESH GETS DREAMY

Something I don’t talk a lot about on Golden Bloggen is how much I love Fleetwood Mac. They are my favorite rock band of all time, just edging out Led Zeppelin (who rocks a lot harder). Stevie Nicks voice mixed with Fleetwood and McVie’s arrangement gets me going. American DJ/Producer Gigamesh bring his own disco-tinged flare to this re-edit of Fleetwood’s classic “Dreams”. You may remember Gigamesh from a Mike Posner remix I posted a couple years back. He has been blowing up recently and touring the world. He’s even featured on the new Kitsune 14 Compilation. I got two words for you Gigamesh: You’re Welcome.
