Everything AlunaGeorge touches is fire. They haven’t missed once yet, and their debut album doesn’t even drop til this summer. This time they join forces with Harlem Shake’s Baauer for a bass-heavy ass shaker. Can’t wait until AG finally comes to the states. They are definitely not to be slept on. Also, big up’s to Baauer for proving he is no one-hit wonder.

I got this track in my inbox recently. It sort of snuck up on me. Next thing I know I’m craving it, and searching my iTunes playlist for that song I downloaded last week. Oh no, what was it called? Chubby Fingers! Fuck yeah. That was it. Never forget. Their chopped and screwed version of Art of Shades’ “All Away” is trippy and melodic with undertones of light dubstep and trap. Some of that good stoner music.

It was a long journey getting to Austin for SXSW last weekend but it was well worth the trip. It was one of the most interesting festivals I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t really call it a festival, more like a city-wide music celebration. It’s how I imagine New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Every shoe store, coffee shop, clothier, or bar rooftop becomes a venue. It was pretty amazing. There were secret shows from Prince w/ A Tribe Called Quest and Justin Timberlake w/ Questlove and RJD2. I couldn’t talk my way into either of those, but there was tons of free music, so definitely no need to buy a badge for $600+. I got to check out Flaming Lips and Jim James for free, and afterwards a guy begged me to come to the rooftop of the W for a free Green Day show, but I fucking hate Green Day. Other super notables include Toro y Moi and St. Lucia. But I was pretty blown away by 17 year old XXYYXX (pictured above). I loved his trap heavy electronica he was dropping all night. He really got the crowd on his side. I see big things for this dude. Maybe a collaboration with the likes of an A$ap or Kendrick in the near future.

I’m a tad bit late posting this, but of course Golden Bloggen is about good music, not just brand new music. This fantasy collaboration dropped a little over a month ago and I’ve been bugging out ever since. AlunaGeorge and Disclosure are the biggest and best new groups to have emerged out of the UK over the past year or so. Hell, they’re probably the two best new acts in the world right now. No hyperbole. They both draw inspiration from 90’s R&B and Electronic music, without it sounding forced like a Beyonce single.  Their first, and hopefully not last, track together is called “White Noise”. It’s anything but. I got the original for y’all today as well as nice funky remix from Hudson Mohawke.
