If you follow the blog, you know how much we love dance music here at Golden Bloggen. Since the inception of Golden Bloggen, 5 YEARS ago, the phrase EDM as grown a lot of legs. A lot of new dance music for new dance music fans seems to be a little one note. Heavy, head banging, four to the floor beats. Which has its place, but can get monotonous quickly. Thanks to music like Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories and Employee of the Year’s self-proclaimed “Slow French” we are reminded that EDM can be melodic and use real instruments. It’s a flashback to the late 90’s where tracks like Chemical Brothers’ “Let Forever Be”, Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You”, and most of Moby’s Play dominated dance radio.  New works from Classixx and Empire of the Sun remind us of those good times 15 years ago, before BEP, Flo-rida and And Pitbull ruined dance music.

Both Classixx and Empire of the Sun will be playing in LA this August. Classixx at FYF Fest and Empire at HARD Summer, both at the LA Historic State Park.
