DJ MUSTARD

Mustard on the beat. LA’s own DJ Mustard, born Dijon (get it?), has been producing some of the best ratchety tracks of the past couple years. Including “Rack City” and “I’m Different”. His beats are very minimal and bass heavy, but pretty different than other producers who have had that same approach in the past. His signature sound includes a repetitive “hey, hey, hey” vocal in the background. With so many lame-duck rappers out there I have been focusing mainly on producers over the past few years. DJ Mustard is more radio friendly than most of the stuff I post, but hey we all need to party.

LE YOUTH

This song is a banger. I heard this on KCRW and was like who is remixing Cassie’s “Me and You”? And what took them so long? Well the answer to that is Le Youth. Apparently the alter ego of LA’s own Wes James. Don’t know much about the guy but this track is the jam. Enjoy it up.
