CHARLOTTE OC

“Hangover” is a really beautiful song from 22 year old UK singer Charlotte OC. Her debut EP ‘Colour My Heart’ is due out later this month. She sites Dolly Parton as an influence, and draws comparisons to Lana Del Rey and Lorde. I’m shocked that people aren’t jumping all over this yet. Her Youtube hits are still very low. With our obsession with white female soul singers from the UK (Adele, Duffy, Joss Stone, Lily Allen, Kate Nash, et. al), I thought people would be committing suicide to hear this. So get on the boat early, and remember you heard it on Golden Bloggen first.

O.C.A.D.

I just saw this video on one of my Go-to’s for music, New Now Next on Logo. It blew me the fuck away. Its rare that I am that floored by a video and song like that for the very first time. I was immediately reminded of the first time I saw AlunaGeorge’s black  and white video for “You Know You Like It”.  They are both Black and White, male-female duos with that Boom-Snap sound. And believe me OCAD, that is a compliment of the highest order. Absolutely love the dirty, Tricky vs Tracey Thorn thing they got going on here. Shit is brilliant.

TINY HEARTS

The best thing about working at KCRW is that I get to hear new music first. I first heard this track a few months ago when Waajeed (Platinum Pied Pipers) sent my boss Garth Trinidad this demo. They didn’t even have a Soundcloud link for the track yet. Now I’m finally getting around to posting this beautiful electronica track with sexy, airy vocals. 2013 has been the year of resurgence for Electronica. One of my favorite genres had all but disappeared, but with AlunaGeorge, Jessy Lanza, and now Tiny Hearts, I think it has some new life.
