So we all know that I think Hip-Hop is dead right? At least it lasted from 1979-2009. That’s not bad, 30 years is a good run. But how Hercules & Love Affair and a lot of new blog bands are attempting to recreate Disco, that is what some people are trying to do with Hip-Hop. A couple artists trying to recreate some 90’s sounding Hip Hop are Drake and Elzhi. Drake is the former teen star of Degrassi High and was also featured on my “Best of 2009” list. The guy has burst onto the scene faster than anyone in recent memory. Elzhi is the rapper who replaced J Dillla in Slum Village after Jay died. Hear them come thru on their own tracks and then listen to them battle each other on the same track. Winner?
